Medical Language Specialists or Transcriptionists, as they are more commonly known as, may not fully understand the dictations given by the doctor. At times, there could be some background noise/disturbance or the doctor dictated a bit too fast and it was incomprehensible. In such cases, it is advisable to leave a blank, rather than filling up something using a guess work. The guess could be wrong and it can land the doctor and the practice into a major financial liability. Since such occurrences are very rare, may be one in a hundred voice files or so, it will be very time consuming for the doctor to go thru’ all the files, identify the files with blanks and fill it up. SpectraMedi has come up with value added features in its work flow management system, whereby all files that has blanks in them can be filtered and listed separately. The doctor has to go thru’ only these reports, fill up the blanks and save them for future use. This saves a lot of time for the doctor and at the same time, ensures accuracy of reports.

SpectraMedi has also developed a new online document editing application, Easy Edit and it has been successfully integrated with Easy Flow, the work flow management system. The multi functional Easy Edit has a lot of value added features, which makes it extremely user friendly and very effective. The doctor can view their reports, download them from the server, make changes in them and upload it back to the server. Easy Edit allows the doctor to make changes not only in the body of the report, but also in the patient demographics, like patient name, date of birth, date of service, medical record number etc. Easy Edit also allows the doctor to electronically sign the reports. If this feature is enabled, the doctor can download the report, view it, make changes in the report and while saving the report, the electronic signature of the doctor will be inserted and the report will be uploaded to the server.

Another unique feature of Easy Edit is the e-mail and fax module. At times, doctors are required to forward the report of their patients to another doctor or to any statutory agency. Using Easy Edit, the doctor can select the report and e-mail or fax it to one or multiple users with the click of a mouse. This feature has been highly appreciated by most of the existing clients of SpectraMedi.

With the introduction of these features SpectraMedi has added one more feather to its cap. In its continued pursuit in providing value added services to its clients, these features will make a big difference.
